And his niece Sandra Redhead revealed that Worksop Town was in his blood from the word go.

“He lived in Worksop all his life and he was a Tigers supporter for over 50 years,” she said.

“I believe it was his dad Albert who got him into it as Len used to go to games with him when he was a boy.”

“He hardly missed a game until his wife Jean became ill and he stopped going so regularly as he was looking after her.”

“When she died in 2007, we all persuaded him as a family to start going to Worksop games again regularly as we knew it would be good for him to be with friends at the football again.”

A minute’s silence was held in Len’s memory before Worksop’s game against Stamford last weekend.

In a statement, the club said: “Worksop Town FC was greatly saddened to hear of the death of Mr Len Hudson.”
