Enthusiastic volunteers from the surrounding areas teamed up to give Manton Pit Wood a new look this week.

On Tuesday 2nd September, people donned their sturdy shoes and waterproof clothing as part of the woodland management task.

The idea behind the activity was to remove scrub and trees to open up the woodland floor to encourage wildflowers to grow.

The volunteers met in the Manton Wood car park, opposite Greencore, at 10am armed with packed lunches and tools were provided.

Everyone was welcome and the group even had time to fit in a round of tea and biscuits to celebrate a job well done!
