Worksop: Woman carried kitchen knives for ‘protection’

A Worksop woman was carrying two kitchen knives after threats were made against her, a court heard.

Megan Asycough, 21, of Park Street, Worksop, admitted being possession of one six-inch blade and one five-inch blade on 3rd July 2014 on Sparken Hill.

The court that Asycough informed Bassetlaw Hospital that she was carrying the weapons before police officers arrived at the scene.

In mitigation, it was said that she was carrying them for protection, she did not intend to use them in anyway and that at the time of the crime her relationship with her mother had broken down.

The case was adjourned until 7th August.
