Kimberley Pauline Cole pleaded guilty to assaulting Cornel D’Silva by beating him at the Rewind pub on 23rd May. But the complainant and defendant dispute what happened and the case has been set for a Newton hearing.

Mansfield Magistrates’ Court was told the complainant had been standing at the bar when Cole stuck two fingers up in his direction.

The prosecution said the man had asked her why she did it and she had punched him with her fist, before launching a tirade of obscenities at him and punching him in the face a second time.

The court heard he then said to her: “Why are you doing this to me - you think you are beautiful. I can go to a brothel and find someone like you for £25.” He said she then hit him again. The defence said Cole admitted assaulting the man but had given him one hard slap after he had made the comment comparing her to a prostitute. She had been upset and lashed out.

Cole said she had seen a friend who was standing at the other side of the complainant and had put two fingers up at him, not the complainant.

She was arrested and did not leave the police station until 2.30pm the following day.

The Newton hearing has been set for 2nd September.
