Worksop: Work due to start on new £1.1m food store

Work is set to start on a new £1.1m Lincolnshire Co-op food store in Worksop at the end of July.

It is being built at the site of the former Lord Byron pub off Plantation Hill in the Kilton area of the town and is set to create between 12 and 14 jobs.

The convenience store is due to open in February 2015 and will stock a range of groceries, chilled and frozen goods.

Store development manager, Matthew Wilkinson, said: “We are pleased to be extending our offer to more people, especially as this is a new area for Lincolnshire Co-op.”

“We looking forward to welcoming customers from Worksop into our brand new store when it opens in 2015.”

Lincolnshire Co-op is an independent co-operative society which trades in Lincolnshire and the surrounding counties.

It runs over 200 outlets including food stores, pharmacies, travel agencies, post offices and funeral homes. Services near Worksop include a food store in Sutton on Trent, a funeral home and food stores in Retford a post office, a travel agency and a funeral home in Gainsborough. The news is a another boost for the town after the opening of CeX last week.
