Seasonal service - An annual Christingle and toy service will be held in church on Sunday, December 4, at 3pm.

All children and adults are welcome to attend this special service to begin the Christmas season.

A Christingle will be given to every child.

The service is in support of the Children’s Society and those who wish can take along a toy or a present suitable for a child, which will be donated to the Salvation Army Christmas Appeal.

If possible, wrap the item and put a label indicating if it is suitable for a boy or girl and the age range.

Variety show - Talented young singer Felicity Turner will feature in a variety show at the town hall on Saturday, December 3.

There will be a host of other local artists and everyone is invited to go along and join the audience for an evening of festive fun.

Tickets cost £4 for adults and £1 for children, including light refreshments, and can be reserved on 01673 858067.

Tickets are also available on the door, with all proceeds going towards the upkeep of the town hall.

Tree festival - The Methodist Chapel hosts a Charity Christmas Tree Festival over the weekend of December 10 and 11, from 10am to 4pm on both days.

This year, the biennial festival will also incorporate manger scenes.

As always local groups and organisations or individuals are invited to decorate and display a tree or prepare a manger scene for display, perhaps for a charity special to them.

Over the weekend, there will also be entertainment, refreshments and children’s activities.

Darts night - Zara and Scott, landlord and landlady at the Turnor Arms, provided the hospitality for a Witham Group of WIs darts evening, which saw 24 players take part in a tournament.

The winning pair were Sheila Wyatt and Barbara Nicholson, both of Nocton WI, who were presented with a trophy by event organiser Audrey Saul, of Bardney WI.

Runners-up were Margaret Wright, of Bardney, and Margaret Kane, of Wragby, who also notched up the highest score of 101.

Group convener Sheila Wyatt thanked everyone who had made the event so enjoyable.

Family bingo - A red-themed tombola was a special feature of the November family bingo night in the town hall, when the Royal British Legion and service men and women who have served their country were in the thoughts of those who attended.

John Kane was in charge and the tombola proceeds of £43 were donated to the legion, with £92.89 going to town hall’s refurbishment fund.

Women’s Institute - The branch enjoyed a visit to Louth, with former member Jaqui Maplethorpe joining the group.

Members were treated to a special opening of M&Co, where they created their own mini fashion show while choosing their purchases.

The evening helped raise £32 for charity.

It was then on to the Riverhead Theatre, where Louth Playgoers were performing the comedy play Quartet, set in a home for retired musicians. It was a very entertaining show.
