Speaker Rosie Lunt and her assistant Jackie took everyone back to the 1940s with lots of interesting facts and songs, before serving tea and biscuits, accompanied by sandwiches made by Margaret Kane and Vicky James.

Everyone agreed it had been a very enjoyable night.

Parish council - The next meeting is at the town hall on Monday, March 7, starting at 7.15pm with a 15-minute open session to give members of the public an opportunity to raise matters of interest and concern. The council meeting starts at 7.30pm.

Community gardeners - There is a change to the planned speaker for the next meeting in the town hall on Tuesday, March 8, as Andrew Ward is not available.

Sue Stephenson will step in to continue her talk on life at her home with the animals at Puddle Paddock near Spalding.

She is a very amusing and entertaining speaker. Her initial talk in October was very much enjoyed, so members are looking forward to her return.

The chairman, Mike Harmon, has stepped down from office due to impending surgery and, as thanks and good wishes are extended to him, John Bird has taken on the role of chairman.

Club members who voluntarily planted 2,000 crocus bulbs on the verges along Dove Park expressed their concern at the recent parish council meeting as Western Power had started laying underground cables in preparation for installing a new sub-station.

There had been no warning this was about to happen, otherwise the planting could have been delayed.

The council has agreed to contact Western Power if there is any damage yo ask for compensation costs.

Visitors are always welcome to attend the meetings, which begin at 7.30pm; more details from 01673 857553.

Players performances - The Wragby Players’ production of Jack and the Beanstalk was a complete sell out on both nights.

It was the first pantomime since Cinderella in 2011 and, with a large cast, was extremely challenging, both on and off stage.

The performances followed the panto traditions and were backed by fantastic audience participation.

It was evident from the start that the combination of young members and the not so young really worked, with everyone having fun.

The endless hours of rehearsing paid off as the performance by all was spot on.

The costumes were of high quality, as was the programme, which contained eight pages of panto family fun, including games, jokes, quizzes and activities.

Film society - The 1935 version of The Thirty Nine Steps will be shown in the town hall on Wednesday, March 9.

For more details, contact Barbara Bartlett on 01673 857480.

Mothering Sunday - A united Mothering Sunday family service will be held in the Methodist Church on Sunday at 10am.

All are welcome to join the congregation and there will be flower for everyone, too.
