'˜You'll never be forgotten' - brother pays tribute to Boston DJ Terry Young

Terry Young, 31, died following a collision between the scooter he was riding and a tractor on Marsh Lane, in Boston, on Tuesday at 5.45pm.

Older brother Carl told The Standard: “He just loved his family. He was a hard working family man.”

Terry, also known as Tel, leaves behind partner Natasha, son Charlie, four, and a step-daughter Leah, 11.

Employed as a dispatch operative at Coveris Flexibles UK, Mr Young was also an avid DJ.

He had previously worked at T.H. Clements and was educated at Staniland Primary School, Haven High and the Sam Newsom Music Centre.

He had been into music since a young age, starting with an old vinyl record player.

Terry passed his driving test on September 29, four weeks before he died.

He had also just purchased a new car.

“He was so excited about it. He’d been looking at other cars but they weren’t up to scratch,” said Carl.

Terry’s last post on Facebook said: “Hurry up Sunday then I can get my motor!

“Coming home on that scooter when it’s foggy or cold ain’t no fun any more!”

Since Terry’s death, a large number of friends, family and strangers have paid tribute.

Kirton Town Colts FC which Terry used to coach held a minutes silence and wore black armbands on Sunday.

A gathering in tribute to him at Wetherspoons on Friday night saw 200 people attend.

“Its overwhelming really, I’m just lost for words. I really didn’t think that many people thought that highly of him,” said Carl.

“My Mum and Dad are both heart broken. He’s the second son they’ve lost, their baby boy.

“It does give them a nice feeling and a smile on their face though, knowing that Terry won’t be forgotten about.

“He was just a much-loved brother, son, grandson, father and words can’t describe how much he’s going to be missed.

“The family would like to thank everybody for all the kind words. We all talk Boston down as a town but when tragedy strikes everybody has come together to help each other. I feel like I have

gained family from it.

“Sometimes you feel like you’re on your own but when something as tragic as this happens, it shows you’re never on your own.”

Friends and family are also raising money to support the partner and children of Terry – and have already had more than £3,000 donated. The gofundme page ‘For Terry Young’ has been organised by Kadie Tebbs, who posted: “He’s a family man with amazing young children, Leah and Charlie and his partner Natasha.”

She added: “Such a caring, loving, fun lad. He loved his music. To produce, play and party too.

“He always looked up to his big brother Carl, his parents and loved his little nephew Lloris.

“This tragic accident has left his family and friends absolutely devastated.

“Terry always has been a very popular lad, who didn’t deserve this to happen to him.”

“He loved his family so much.

“This is the least we can do, to help them out for the future.”

The page had a target of £1,500 but in just 16 hours, 119 people had raised £2,075.

l Following the collision a 20-year-old man who was driving the tractor was arrested by police and later bailed until December 16.

Any witnesses to the collision, who have not already spoken with police, are asked to call 101, quoting incident number 356 of November 1.
