Young farmers put thinking caps on for good cause

Louth's branch of the Young Farmers Club raised £500 for a Parkinson's charity following a successful fund raising event last autumn.

The Young Farmers Club (YFC) held a quiz night at Saltfleetby Village Hall on October 16 to raise money for the national Parkinson’s UK charity.

Teams participated in a quiz with six rounds of questions covering topics including agriculture, music, and general knowledge. The event also featured a cake stall and a raffle, followed 
by a ‘cake auction’.

In total, £455.54 was raised on the night - and 
Louth YFC put some of their own funds towards this, giving a total donation of £500.

Darren Worthy, from Parkinson’s UK (East Midlands Fundraiser) and three members of the Louth & District branch of the Parkinson’s support group came along to a special meeting in December where the cheque was handed over.

Louth YFC’s Club Secretary Holly Howell said: “One person in every 500 has Parkinson’s, and Parkinson’s UK raises funds to 
research this cruel disease.”

The local Parkinsons branch meets on the first Thursday of every month 
from 1pm-3.30pm at The Trinity Centre in Eastgate.
