Zero Degrees Festival 2016 promises to be a fortnight of family fun

Louth's summer festival Zero Degrees, funded by local businesses, is about to launch two weeks of fun-filled events, of 40 great events, plus a gig by Mercury Prize nominees British Sea Power next month.

‘Party in the Pews’ at St James’ Church will get things started on Friday (June 17), with a showcase of dance and music for the whole family.

This is followed by ‘Vintage Day’ in Cornmarket on Sunday June 19, with live music, vintage stalls, and a pavement-cafe experience created by Cobbles, The Auction House, Larders and Tina’s Cafe.

Also on June 19, comedian Edd Hedges will perform at The Brown Cow, alongside Louth’s Jamie Smith.

Maddy Anholt brings her comedy show ‘Rent Girl’, co-written with Hardeep Singh Koli, to The King’s Head on Friday July 1. Tickets just £5.

The vintage theme continues with the popular return of ‘Outside at the King’s Head’ on Saturday June 25, with a free afternoon of music influenced by the 60s and 70s. On Sunday June 26, The King’s Head once again hosts Louth’s Run for Life After-Party, with live music from Klout, Dukes de Luda, and Stolen Fridays.

‘Spout Yard Acoustic’ on Saturday July 2 will sees an afternoon of world and acoustic music, plus world food and drink. Performers include Jasmine Lingard, The Illustrated, Avital Raz, Dave Angel and Luke Carver-Goss.

The Legendary Night Owls have been hugely popular in their hometown, but the festival will see the last ever appearances of these authentic exponents of Chicago Blues and R&B. Louth Jazz Club hosts the Owls on the evening of Friday June 17, before they close Zero Degrees Festival with a Boozy Bluesy BBQ at The Brown Cow on the afternoon of Sunday July 3.
