Writing on Instagram, the award-winning singer explained how the book completely transformed her outlook on life.

What did Adele say about the book?

In a lengthy Instagram post, Adele wrote about Untamed: Stop Pleasing, Start Living by Glennon Doyle, and posted an image of the book’s front cover.

She wrote, “If you’re ready - this book will shake your brain and make your soul scream. I am so ready for myself after reading this book! It’s as if I just flew into my body for the very first time.

“Whew! Anyone who has any kind of capacity to truly let go and give into yourself with any kind of desire to hold on for dear life - Do it. Read it. Live it. Practice it. We are a lot! But we are meant to be a lot! .. “A good life is a hard life!”

“Read this book and have a highlighter on hand to make notes because you’ll want to refer back to it trust me! I never knew that I am solely responsible for my own joy, happiness and freedom!!

“Who knew our own liberation liberates those around us? Cause I didn’t!! I thought we were meant to be stressed and disheveled, confused and selfless like a Disney character! ProBloodyFound!! You’re an absolute don Glennon.”

Glennon Doyle replied to Adele’s post in the comments, writing, “I love you, my soul sister. Thank you for this. You are the ultimate goddamn cheetah. Love, Hope, Sisterhood - Glennon.”

What is the book about?

Untamed is the third memoir from Doyle, which was released in March this year.

The book follows the dissolution of the author’s marriage, her journey on the path of finding love with footballer and Olympian Abby Wambach, and learning to “let go of the world’s expectations of her and reclaim her true untamed self.”

The blurb for the book reads, “Soulful and uproarious, forceful and tender, Untamed is both an intimate memoir and a galvanising wake up call.

“It is the story of how one woman learned that a responsible mother is not one who slowly dies for her children, but one who shows them how to fully live.

“It is also the story of how each of us can begin to trust ourselves enough to set boundaries, make peace with our bodies, honour our anger and heartbreak, and unleash our truest, wildest instincts.”

Who is Glennon Doyle?

Doyle was born in Burke, Virginia, on 20 March 1976. She has one sister, Amanda Doyle.

Doyle would begin to write and talk about her early struggles with bulimia and addictions. In her 2013 TEDx talk, Lessons from the Mental Hospital, Doyle discusses the time she spent in a psychiatric facility as a teenager.

Her first book, Carry On, Warrior, covered how Doyle overcame her addictions, and how her family life gave her stability. It could go on to sell more than 200,000 copies and debut at number three on the New York Times bestseller list.

It was during the promotional tour for this book that Doyle’s husband confessed to an affair that had been going on throughout their marriage. While the two separated, they worked together to rebuild their relationship - a story which Doyle would tell in her second book, Love Warrior, which was picked as an Oprah Book Club read.

While promoting Love Warrior, Doyle would meet her future wife, Abby Wambach, at a literary festival. Her third book, the one that Adele praised heavily on Instagram, details this period of Doyle’s life.

Glennon Doyle is also the founder and president of Together Rising, an all-woman led nonprofit organization which supports women, families and children in crisis.
