As retail outlets close their doors on Christmas Eve, they are usually gearing up for the biggest event of the trading calendar - the Boxing Day sales.
However, due to the unforeseen national lockdown on non-essential businesses across Scotland, this will not be the case in 2020 and so shops may be more enthusiastic about encouraging shoppers to spend before they close.

When is the Next winter sale in 2020?
While the sale is set to be in full swing on 26 December, there are already a host of best buys in the Clearance section of the Next Website, as of 21 December.
VIP customers signed up to receive emails from the store will get first access to the sale before it officially launches.
From 21 December, VIP members already registered will be able to shop 50% off Next clearance items.

However, all is not lost if you are not on the VIP list.
Sales are expected to start slightly earlier for everyone, with money expert Martin Lewis predicting a 50% discount will be available on Next’s main site from Christmas eve.
Will the Next sale be online and in store?
It is expected that customers will be able to shop the sale on Christmas Eve, should it launch early.
