This week the league reached its halfway point, and Ex Service 501s took on bottom-placed New Park Rangers, knowing a win would take them to the top.

In a game with more than 50 scores of 100 or better, it was a cracking match which saw them do just that as they went top.

Ken Wilson (3x100, 140) got the home side off to the perfect start and Chris Fletcher (3x100, 140) followed with a narrow 2-1 win over Graham Fitton (4x100, 121, 140 and a 20 dart leg).

Gary Garton (6x100, 101 finish and an 18 darter) made it 3-0.

Pete Evans (2x100) made it a singles whitewash with his win over Ray McIvor (112, 125, 135, 140 and an 18 dart leg), ensuring his team went into the doubles 4-0 ahead.

The 501s then won both the pairs to have a 6-0 lead going into the last set of singles, where Ken Wilson (3x100, 123, 140, and 17 dart leg) and debutant Pete Evans (2x100, 121, 122 and legs of 20, and 21 darts) completed an 8-2 win.

Graham Fitton (2x100, 121) beat Gary Garton (3x100, 121, 2x140 and a 15 darter) while Steve Wolstenholme (122, 121, 137), Brad Martin (2x100, 123, 2x140) and Ray WhItton (2x100, 125, 140 ) threw well for Rangers.

Arctic Shrew Monkeys took on Red Lion, needing a win to keep the pressure on the league leaders.

Scott Sutton got the Lion off to a fantastic start, winning the first singles with 123, 140, and 110 finish in 18 darts.

However, the Monkeys then took the next three to lead 3-1.

The doubles were shared, to leave the Monkeys 4-2 in front before (Chris Simpson 100, 121, 122, 140) pulled one back for the Red Lion to make it 4-3.

But this was the last success for the Red Lion as Martin Bell (3x100, 121, 130, 2x140), Shaun Drury (7x100, 101) and Rich Garner (8x100, 2x140) made the match safe for the Monkeys.

Richard Jackson hit 2x100, 125 for Monkeys and Red Lion had Liam Green (2x100, 125, 180), Colin Pringle (140, 141) and Scott Sutton (100, 123, 125) throwing well.

Top met second with Railway Cobras playing host to WMC Aces, and both these teams expect to be in the shake-up at the end of the season,

Darrell Webb (3x100, 117, 123, 135, 140 and legs in 20 and 21 darts) got the home side off to a flyer as they ended up with a 3-1 lead after the singles.

They then won both the doubles to lead 5-1, adding three of the final singles to give a fantastic 8-2 win with Ian Chamberlain (4x100, 134, 138, 154), Ray Bettison (100, 140) and Stuart Corsen (2x100, 121) on target.

Amigos had Gareth Jowett (125, 2x140), David Reding (2x125) and Spencer Davis (3x100, 140) throwing well.

League Cup

A cracker of a game at the Seaview saw Seaview Raiders take on Liberal Lads.

With more than 60 sheet shots, they shared the opening singles 2-2 before sharing the doubles.

But it was Division One outfit Liberal Lads who took control of the last set of singles, winning 3-1 to give them the win 6-4.

High scores for Raiders came from Mark Dannat (140), Kieran Steven Emsen (2x100, 121), Steven Emsen (2x100), Peter East (4x100, 101, 123, 125, 2x140), Barry Taylor (3x100) and a cracking 154 finish from Steve Gillings.

Liberal high scorers were Lee Dore Snr (12x100, 118, 136, 140), Gordon McQuillan (9x100, 110, 2x140), Mark Carter (9x100, 115, 120, 140) and captain Eric Hammond (5x100, 123, 140).

Exhibition matches

BDO world champion Scott Waites wowed enthusiastic crowds at a series of venues last week, following a number of exhibition matches.

He turned out at the Working Men’s Club in Skegness, the Electric Club in Grantham, the Bell Hotel at Burgh le Marsh, Skegness Liberal and Social Club, Batemans Brewery at Wainfleet and Jester’s Bar.
