With the first 10km run completed in 42.19, a less than flat 40km ride was done in 1.15.21 and the last 5km took 22.03.

Amy said: “With this so close to my tri club Lincsquad it had a lot of competitive entrants, male and female.

“Placing 20th out of 75 overall was a good effort.

“I got passed by a fellow female GB competitor on the last run only for her to tell me she was part of a relay team and had not done the cycle leg.

“This was a relief as I had nothing left to give. By the end of the race it had got hot and I was glad to finish with the 1st prize.

And added: “That’s it now, off to Spain to put the ghosts of last year’s Australia race to bed.”
