Anglers rally round

AS always the angling community rally around for a good cause, and we have had offers of help for our junior event at lakeside on 26th May, from some of the area’s experienced matchmen.

As always we are extremely grateful to anyone who can give some time to help steward this event and pass on your skills to the youngsters.

So if you can give a few hours can you contact us on the above number – the more the merrier.

As expected we have already had a good response with nearly a third of the available pegs being registered within the first couple of days.

For any of you who have youngsters who are interested please don’t delay in registering.

CLUB RESULTS

THE members of Stanley Street Sports and Social club visited Clearwater last Sunday where Bill Richardson took a 35lb 6oz winning net of carp to 10lb from peg 1 on the pellet feeder.

Mick Pogson claimed second with a 27lb 5oz mixed net of carp and bream from next peg 2 on pole fished pellet and corn.

Mel Kirton was third on peg 9 with an all ide net of 23lb 8oz on pole fished caster.

Members are reminded that the next match is on the field pond at Lodge Farm on 29th April with an 8.30am draw.

COMMERCIAL ROUND-UP

STARTING at Lodge Farm, Tuesday’s event on the lily pond saw Mick Hill claim first with 64lb 8oz off peg 71 fishing pole and corn.

Norman Footit was second with 56lb 8oz on peg 59 fishing pole and pellet.

Wednesday’s veterans on the long island saw the in-form Billy Richardson take the honours pole fishing maggot on peg 98 for 125lb, with Brian Chatterton a distant second weighing 54lb on peg 81 fishing the wag and mag.

Saturday’s contest on the signal pond was won by Sam Morgan on peg 3 who pole fished worm for 54lb 8oz, Tommy Hunt in the runners-up position on peg 5 with 42lb employing the method feeder.

At Lakeside Fishery bank holiday Monday’s open saw Glen Greasley win with 102lb 14oz on the method feeder from peg 6.

Jon Dudley won Wednesday’s open on peg 8 with an all silver fish net of 58lb 1oz taken on pole fished caster.

Bryden AC of Retford held a knock-up on the second strip pond with Nigel Wheatcroft landing a winning 67lb 13oz on peg 8 taken on pole and pellet.

On the carp lake specimen hunter Luke Dawson of Blyth landed seven lumps including an 18lb 10oz common from peg 3 on boilie.

On the trout lake Geoff Wilkinson slipped his net under 15 fish to 8lb on his gold headed damsels cast on a sinking line

Down the road at Riverside match weights are improving with Steve Armatage putting 45lb 11oz on the scales in Tuesday’s open to claim the win from peg 2 employing pole fished pellet.

John Bleakley claimed second from peg 10 on his favourite bomb fished meat.

Wednesday’s open saw Steve make it back to back wins from peg 2, this time on pole fished maggot for a weight of 44lb 5oz.

Brian Robinson took second spot on peg 36 with 25lb 5oz on pole fished pellet.

On Friday Dave Evans used a complete change of tactics for a winning net of 30lb 2oz on the pllet waggler from peg 32 to finish ahead of Lee Hasset on peg 27 with 25lb 3oz on pole fished maggot.

Pete Ware took a winning 53lb 5oz on Saturday on pole fished pellet from peg 34 with Paul Brazier employing the same tactics on peg 32 to claim the runners-up spot weighing 23lb 12oz.

At Sherwood Forest Farm Fisheries Sundays open was fished on the Holmedale lake.

A big white over frost then a cold easterly wind put the temperature down two degrees in the water making it a struggle.

Worksop’s Stewart Grey, drawn at peg 36, alternated pellet hookbait on the pole fished at 11m and a small pellet feeder cast to the island for a 58lb 7oz winning net of 58lb 7oz ,comprising of 10 carp to 8lb.
