The race was established in 1954, and in 1980 Brendan Foster was granted a late entry and went on to run 48.01, the fastest time recorded in the event’s history.
It’s now one of the most popular races in the region, and attracted over 750 runners.

Driving wind and sleet meant conditions could not have been worse.
But Page did the Road Runners club proud regardless, finishing ninth in an impressive time of 58.35.
The latest Rother Valley 5km Park Run saw a number of Clowne Road Runners taking part.
And one of them emerged victorious, in a superb time of 16.12.

Gareth Lowe was first home in the race, adding another victory to his CV.
He was followed by team-mates Lewis Banton (17.17), Ged Naylor (19.05), Louise Lowe (20.03), Susanne Leusby (24.48), Paula Macpherson (26.02), Emma Waterfield (28.20) and Cheryl Smith, who registered a new personal best with her time of 29.26.
