Being the first of his two challenges, Shaun took full advantage of the six hour time limit, finishing bang on the six hour mark.

Shaun and clubmate Sarah Whatton headed to the Bolton Abbey Marathon and Ultra Marathon the following day, with Sarah opting for the longer 33 mile race.

The marathon was a three loop course and the Ultra was the marathon route with a 6.5 mile loop added on.

Shaun said: “The course is very hilly and undulating and is one of the toughest routes we have ever run.”

He managed to complete the second of his two marathons in two days by crossing the line in 7 hours 17 minutes, whilst Sarah conquered the 33 mile Ultra in 7 hours 45 minutes.
