The new venue, with races held over a challenging and more traditional cross country terrain in the heart of the Lincolnshire Wolds, tested contestants and the course included river crossings, rough uneven grassland and demanding climbs.

The prevailing dry, bright and still weather meant that despite heavy rain in the days leading up to the event, conditions were ideal for the running of the 2016 Championship races.
