Battling Dolphins just miss second spot

THE second round of the 2012 Lincolnshire League saw Gainsborough Dolphins travel to the Scartho Pool at Grimsby to compete against two teams from host club Cleethorpes and District (CADS), Scunthorpe Anchor and Grantham.

The late withdrawal of Grantham meant only four teams were in action with Dolphins hoping to finish second to give them a chance of reaching the top six gala in round three. They battled hard for this second spot against the Anchor outfit all night but lost out to them by 12 points, a deficit reflected by six unfortunate disqualifications and absent swimmers due to other commitments.

Leading the way on the night the boys 12/under squad recorded maximum points in the individual events with both Ewan McKay (50m breaststroke and freestyle) and Will Walmsley (50m backstroke and butterfly) securing wins.
