Beacons now top

THE top two teams in Division One of the Gainsborough and District Table Tennis League faced each other last week and it was Liberal Club Beacons who, despite having only two players, came out on top against stablemates Meteors with a 7-3 victory which puts them top by one point and they also have a game in hand of Meteors.

In Division Two the top four teams all played with Blues Club Phoenix beating clubmates Kestrels 7-3 and Liberal Branch Dynamos claiming a 7-3 victory over Methodist Batmen.

Reslts: Divison One - Meteors 3 (by default), Beacons 7 (Phil Dixon 3, Dave Brumpton 3, plus doubles). Division Two - Dynamos 7 (James Cooper 3, Jon Colley 3, plus doubles), Batmen 3 (Ken Eliot 1, Matt Longstaff 1, Tom Lovely 1); Phoenix 7 (Alistair McPherson 2, Dave Shelley 1, Ron Simon 3, plus doubles), Kestrels 3 (Steve Mason 2, Dave Mason 1).
