Blitz A stay in the top flight

Blitz Table Tennis Club’s A team maintained their position in the top flight of the National Junior League on Saturday in Wellingborough.

Both the A and B team put in good performances, in one of the toughest centres in the country, with the A team picking up two wins, two draws and losing just once.

Notts Junior number one player Peter Cowburn inspired Blitz A, but all three players contributed to the results.

Blitz B playing in Division Two, got a bit of a wakeup call in their first two matches losing them both 6-0.

However they fought back well to retain Division Two status.

On Sunday Blitz hosted their own National Cadet League competition at Trent Valley Academy, with teams coming from far afield.

Blitz Under 15s sit top of the table, thanks to Daniel Cutts’ fine form, losing only one match all day and helping the team to three wins from three.

The Under 18s also fared well, extending their lead at the top of the table to 19 points as Chris Gamble kept his unbeaten status.
