2026 started with a firm favourite for the Boston Runners with the Skegness 10k taking place.

It was a chilly breezy easterly wind that greeted around 800 runners taking part in the Skegness 10k around the caravan park at Butlins on the last weekend of January, the first of the 2026 events that 14 members of Boston Community Runners took the black and yellow stripes to.

The race started on time and the runners soon started to warm up. Wending their way in and out of the rows of holiday homes, the run is unique in the fact that you are constantly seeing other runners coming the other way throughout the race, which in itself gave the opportunity to cheer on fellow club runners and friends alike.

First to finish for Boston was Lee Conway in a new PB time of 38.39, also claiming a first in his age category. Just a minute behind him was Steve Roberts with another sub 40 performance and claiming first in his age category with a time of 39.46. Kelvin Clements was our third runner home, crossing the line in an excellent time of 43.19. Nick Turner took third in his age category with a run of 53.06.

Terri-Ann Robinson and Karen Hindle dead-heated in a fast time of 54.51, this was Terri-Ann's first race in club colours and she loved it! Chasing them across the line, just a second behind was Steve Hubbard in 54.52. Kevin Hindle was again sub hour with a super run of 59.07.

Kimberley Bolland ran a blinder and was just over the hour by one second! Stopping the clock in 1.00.01. She finished just ahead of Mary Turner who clocked 1.00.09. Andrea Sylvester was next in sight and crossed the finish in 1.02.35. Jayne Clements stopped the clock bang on 1.03.00 and Jayne Ashton was so pleased to have finished in 1.12.10, ahead of her predicted time. Our final finisher at Skegness was Debbie Petley who jeffed her way round just under her estimated one hour, thirty time, finishing in 1.29.37

Everyone did so well on a very chilly morning and the bonus being only a short journey back to Boston afterwards.
