Boston Tennis Club Thirds open up gap at top of seniors league

In the Dunlop Lindum Lincolnshire Seniors League, Boston Tennis Club’s Men’s Thirds are streets ahead both in terms of the number of matches the team has played and also on results in Division Two.

Sitting at the top of this division of the League with an impressive 15 points the team played it’s sixth match of the season against Horncastle and gained a 4-0 result for Chris Cook, John Gibson, Andy Clamp and David Makins.

The same team beat Tealby 5-3 a week earlier.

The Men’s Fourth team – Robert Bonser, Jeremy George-Jones, Richard Tupper and Terry Mastin – drew with Louth Seconds in Division Two.

The Ladies’ Firsts encountered injury in the first team’s Division One match against Woodhall and missed out 3-5.

McGarel, Sue Burnett, Rachel Gedney and Linda Barrow made up the team.

The Ladies’ Seconds - Catherine Ellis, Helen Duckett, Lesley Gibbons and Sharron Thorogood – missed out 7-1 to North Scarle.

The Ladies’ Thirds, playing in Division Two, beat Louth Seconds 5-3 thanks to Hilary Calvert, Ann Wallhead, Gilly Dunn and Mary Smura.

But a week later the team of Helen Cook, Hilda Hastings, Hilary Calvert and Mary Smura were beaten.

In the LTA’s National Winter League, Boston’s 12 and under boys – Paul Young and Ben Rudkin - beat Burton Waters while the 16 and under girls, Florence and Martha Baxter, beat Tennis Buddies 4-1.

The Green C team – Declan Dodes and Owen Sims - had a 6-0 win against Woodhall but the reverse result when the boys played Louth.
