On Saturday Horncastle moved 14 points clear at the top the Lincolnshire Indoor Bowling Association Mixed League Division Two with a comprehensive 18-0 win at home to Grantham.

Unfortunately it is not to be this year for George Lancaster.

Last year’s finalist suffered a first-round exit in the Lincolnshire Indoor Bowling Association Seniors Singles at Stamford, missing out 20-9 to Jane Saunders (Long Sutton).

The previous weekend Horncastle IBC were in action at at Lincoln in the English Bowling Federation Singles.

In the Over 65 Singles, Norman Burton won through to the final where he will play Maurice Edling (Spalding).

In the singles, Tracy Nunn is also through to the final, where he will meet Kevin Rands (Lincoln).

Both finals take place at Boston IBC on March 12.

Horncastle Indoor Bowls Club played host to some of the top young talent in Lincolnshire on Sunday.

Under 18 and under 15 talents competed in the last 16, quarter and semi-final rounds of the county singles competition.

Horncastle IBC President Judy Moody welcomed competitors while club members K. Jackman, D. Bellhouse, G. Wells, G. Lancaster, K. Taplin, J. Taplin, J. Moody and P. Ullyall acted as markers.

The four youngsters going through to the final are Adam Hodgson (Boston), Louise Harris (Stamford), Danielle Wild (Spalding) and Liam Reeson (Boston).

The finals will be held at Boston on April 22.

This Sunday sees Horncastle IBC host the last 16 and quarter-finals of the Lincolnshire Women’s Indoor Bowling Association County Singles.
