BOWLS: Latest results from Sleaford Indoor Bowls Club

Sleaford Indoor Bowls Club Men's Singles saw Paul Roberts beat Trevor Bannister in a surprisingly easy game, 21-2.

Dave Chandley defeated Terry Curran 21-4 and in an extremely close game, whilst David Bristow squeezed out Gareth Hubbard 21-20.

In the Ladies’ Singles, Kath Lake beat Helen Quirke 22-12 in a game that saw Helen leading 9-3 after the first eight ends. Then Kath picked up 14 shots without reply and never looked back. Gloria Davies continued her impressive form to secure a one-sided 21-1 win against Linda Falkingham.

In the 4-3-2-1 competition, Brian Jenkinson partnered Kim Callow and got the better of Elaine and Steve Traynor, 79-61, whilst Terry Curran with Brian Coyne came back from being 26-44 down to ease past Bob McKie and Charlie Ridley 87-73.

Steve Traynor and Les Richardson beat John Dawson and David Chandley 12-7 and 7-6 in the Open Pairs. Richard Barnes with Ross Harwood defeated Peter and Gill Annison 4-10, 14-4, and then two straight in the tie-break. Fred Collin and Paul Roberts won 6-8 and 11-1 and two straight in the tie-break.

Gloria Davies partnered by Gareth Hubbard won against Alan Clarke and Bob McKie, 12-4 and 24-2. Harry Spencer joined by Terry Ingham beat Di Wilson-Rogers and Dave Rogers 7-3 and 7-7, picking up one shot on the last end to avoid a tie-break.

The very experienced partnership of Nick Barnatt and Trevor Bannister played a very close match against Rhoda Wing and Richard Musson but finished as winners, 7-5 and 7-4. David Bristow with Pete Tyler won in two straight sets against Larry Davies and Richard Pearson, 9-1 and 12-0.

In Rinks, Laurie Bonello’s set of Terry Curran, Colin Grosse and Brian Coyne were 0-12 down after five ends against the strong ladies’ set of Gill Dwyer, Pat Rands, Sheila Pratt and Linda Wills. They then scored eight shots without reply but could never quite catch a very good set and lost 12-16.
