The 20-year-old is set to travel to Sheffield to face home town fighter Will Burkin on 30th November.

Brierley, who trains at Steve Slaney’s gym in Conisbrough, has won all three of his professional fights so far, stopping two of his opponents inside the distance.

He’s planning to retain his perfect record when he takes on former Muay Thai kickboxer Burkin, and says preparations are on track.

“It’s going really well, I’m a few weeks out so I’m well into my camp now.”

“I like to keep fit all the time, I don’t like to go over my fight weight, but in the weeks before a fight I really knuckle down and go 100 per cent in training.”

Although Burkin has lost both of his opening professional boxing fights, Brierley is refusing to underestimate the Sheffield man.

“I’ve seen him on YouTube, he looks a tough lad, he likes his hooks, so I’m going in there to try and box.”

“All fights are different, but we’ve got a gameplan.”

“He’s fought two unbeaten lads and gone the distance so he’s no pushover.”

Cruiserweight Brierley began his boxing career at Langold ABC with Terry Lavin, before a spell at Manton ABC under the watchful eye of Harry Watson.
