Competing at the University of East Anglia in Norwich, he won the over 70s singles and over 70s doubles with teammate Roy Norton.

And the 72-year-old - giving away up to 12 years in age to rivals - also claimed victory in the over 60s consolation event.

The early start of the over 60s singles caught Brian out, suffering a surprise defeat to old foe Dennis Bromage.

However, he soon recovered in the consolation section, storming through the next four rounds before beating Keith Powell in straight sets in the final.

In the over 70s singles, Brian gained revenge over Bromage with a straightforward 11-3, 11-7, 11-3 success on his way to the final.

There he met doubles partner Norton.

But Brian was too strong, securing another victory with a straight sets win.

In the doubles final the duo got the better of Peter Bradley and David Harse.

“I’m very happy to win the singles and doubles,” said Brian.

“It was also a nice surprise to win the over 60s consolation - it was the first time I’ve ever been in the event and I won it.”

Brian will now return to training before the Masters series resumes in the new year.
