And the 10-year-old Bostonian, who fights for the Tamworth-based club TKA, fought in the hotly contested -30kg section.

Each fight was over two 90 second rounds and, after two tough fights, he had battled his way through to the final.

Harley, who trains every day both before and after school, showed the benefit of all that training as his superior strength and fitness proved too much for his opponent.

After the first round Harley was up 10-2.

His opponent came out strong in the second round, scoring two good kicks, but Harley once again piled on the pressure to win the fight 16-6 and be crowned British Champion.

This latest win was Harley’s sixth British title, but his first at the WMO event, one he’s wanted to win for the past couple of years.

“I’m really pleased to have finally won this title, it’s a really hard competition,” he said.
