Buxton thrashed at Lodge Lane

THIRDS RUGBY

Dinnington III 45

Buxton III 0

For the second home game in a row, Dinnington had to start the game with uncontested scrums but this time they did not let it affect them.

From the off they were in control, compensating for the scrums by being very aggressive at the rucks and mauls.

They got players there quickly and in numbers which meant that Buxton won very little possession even when the visitors were there first.

Dinnnigton’s half back pairing of Liam and Nathan Parry worked well together to get the ball quickly out to the backs and keep Dinnington on the front foot.

The hosts scored six tries in the first half to open up a 40-0 lead at the break but they could not produce the same effort in the second half.

They made changes at the break and that together with them facing the elements and Buxton lifting their game meant chances were scarce.

The only score for Dinnington came from Richard Pettican who ran in from half way and although Buxton did enjoy some periods of possession they could not do anything with it.

Dinnington’s points came from tries by Pettican (2), Dean McAulay, Ian Westbury, Richard White, Liam Parry and Paul Scott and five conversions from David Bell.
