The Spires and Steeples Challenge offers runners the chance to run either a full or a half marathon.

Organiser Donna Sutton said: “It’s probably one of the toughest but most rewarding marathons you’ll ever run. It’s a real test of endurance, pushing the boundaries and designed to drag you out of your comfort zone.”

Now in its ninth year, the Spires and Steeples Challenge takes place on Sunday, October 16. The Challenge is a 26 or 13 mile run or walk from Lincoln to Sleaford following the Spires and Steeples Arts and Heritage Trail, an off road trail that follows way marked public footpaths, bridleways and country lanes.

“It’s a real test for runners and walkers over a full or half marathon distance,” said Donna.

“We have participants taking part from all over the UK. It is great to see everyone supporting each other along the way, whether they know each other or not. That’s what makes the challenge what it is.”

The event is in aid of WheelPower, a charity which provides sports wheelchairs, training and support for disabled people. Participants are also welcome to raise funds for their own charities.
