County rugby double for Louth grammar school

A Louth school was celebrating a county double as its two girls' rugby teams swept to their respective titles last Wednesday.

Both the King Edward VI Grammar School under 13s and under 15s teams came through the RFU tournament with 100 per cent winning records and some thumping wins.

A squad of 27 girls from Year 7 through to Year 10 set off with both teams remaining unbeaten through their four matches.

The under 15s side did not concede a point, but had to hold up the ball over the line in the last seconds of the final match to maintain their clean sheet.

There were several impressive individual performances, but the success was put down to unwavering bravery and commitment to teamwork.

The under 13s came through 70-0 against William Farr, 25-15 against Vale Academy, 30-10 against St George’s Academy, and 45-5 against Sir John Nelthorpe.

After a 40-0 win against St George’s Academy, the under 15s eased past Oasis Immingham (70-0), Vale Academy (30-0), and Lincoln Castle (40-0).
