The first team had made it to 87-5 against Boston Seconds when rain bought a halt to proceedings after 22 overs.

A 55-run partnership between Abdul Moeed (20*) and Zeeshan Saeed (39) was broken shortly before the rain when Saeed was well caught in the deep.

Freiston’s Seconds performed well away to Heckington. They bowled out their hosts for 112 and had made a solid start to their reply before more rain bought an end to the match.

Steve Appleyard picked up two wickets in his economical opening spell, but it was the contribution of skipper JP Horton that made the real difference.

Horton claimed impressive figures of 6-28, whilst Tom Appleyard also picked up a couple of wickets, as Heckington were bowled out for 112.

Herbert Ushewokunze and Mick Stapleton had taken Freiston to 13 without loss, when the match was abandoned.

On Saturday Freiston’s Firsts travel to Skegness and the Seconds host the seasiders’ Second XI.
