Anston in good position before rain falls

CHAMPIONSHIP

Anston 228 for 9

Retford 96 for 6

ANSTON welcomed Retford to Ryton Road and yet again were cursing the poor weather, which ruined the game with the hosts in a great position.

Losing the toss Anston were asked to have first knock and made steady progress before losing Lyne (16) and Long (19).

A good partnership between Plant and Norbury headed Anston towards a good first half until the loss of Plant for 22 set them back.

However the lower Anston order supported Norbury in his innings as he made a great total of 79 on a difficult wicket.

Good contributions from Taylor, Marsh and Ruczenczyn at the end ensured Anston finished on a competitive 228 for 9 off their 50 overs.

Several rain breaks prior to tea and during the Retford innings made sure the game went towards a timed match yet again.

Anston tried their best to make their way through the Retford team.

All of the Anston bowlers bowled with great control and pressure, Chris Pickering on debut took 2 for 23 and looks a great signing for the club, Perera had 3 for 5 as well as a run out.
