Boston posted a solid 227/6 from their 40 overs which proved too much for the young Sleaford side.

It left captain Cheer delighted with both his personal display and the performance of the team.

He said.: “It was great to get a good score personally but it was even better to get another good team score. There were two really good partnerships that helped set the platform for our innings.

“Pooley batted really sensibly and that allowed Mahir to come in and bat with that extra aggression to push the scoreboard along at a quicker rate.”

“We bowled well. To be fair, we’ve bowled well every week. We were good in the field and took some very impressive chances in the field.

“A second consecutive victory was very pleasing. If it wasn’t for the rain against Woodhall, we might be sitting here with three from three. We’ve played some good cricket and had a bit of luck along the way.”

With Poole and Yousuff returning to the side and Tuntunwala making his debut for the 1st XI, Boston’s captain, Jon Cheer, won the toss and had no hesitation in opting to bat first.

With Poole and Elleray opening the batting, Boston would have been looking for a good, solid start. Unfortunately, Elleray was soon on the way back to the pavilion and Cheer joined Poole at the crease.

A determined and disciplined partnership between the pair saw Boston on 88 before Poole was dismissed for 41 by Tom Shorthouse.

Another valuable 89 run partnership between Cheer and Yousuff saw Cheer make Boston’s first century of the season before being dismissed for 109 from 101 balls.

Yousuff went to 50 as he and Baxter pushed Boston past the 200 mark for the second consecutive game – Boston ended their allotted 40 overs on 227-6.

Sleaford’s in-form batsmen Shorthouse was dropped early on in the innings but it wasn’t long before he found the safe hands of Yousuff off the bowling of Bell.

The introduction of Baxter into the attack instantly brought the wicket of Patel – another impressive catch from Yousuff. Godby and Hibberd set about building another partnership, before Baxter picked up Godby – caught and bowled for 36. He then dismissed Henderson the next ball and Sleaford were 99-4.

Hodgson entered the attack and picked up where he left last week, dismissing Hibberd for 30.

Bell re-entered the attack and dismissed Wing and Hall before Hodgson picked up Youles, Burford (for 48 from 42 balls) and Collings to bowl Sleaford out for 164.

Hodgson ended with 4-30 (6.4 overs), Bell ended with 3-19 (8 overs) and Baxter ended with 3-23 (8 overs) in what was a fantastic effort by the whole bowling attack.

Boston’s 63 run victory saw them pick up four more points in their South Group.
