Cricket club mourns ‘integral’ chairman

LEA Park Cricket Club is mourning the loss of chairman Ted Roberts.

The father of two passed away suddenly on Saturday at the age of 49.

The club paid tribute to him in a statement earlier this week.

A spokesman said: “Ted was an integral part of the club both as a player and behind the scenes in his capacity of chairman.”

“Everybody who had the pleasure of playing and working with him will miss him greatly.”

“Everyone at the club sends their condolences to his wife Sue and his two sons Toby and Jim at this sad time.”

A private family committal at Woodlands Crematorium, Scunthorpe on Friday 17th at 11.30am will be followed by a service of thanksgiving for Ted’s life at All Saints’ Church, Upton at 12.30pm.

All are welcome and the family have requested that mourners do not wear black to the funeral.

They have also asked that donations are made to Cancer Research UK or Lea Park Cricket Club, through JE Thurlby Funeral Directors in Kexby, in lieu of flowers.
