CRICKET: Sleaford CC amongst the trophies at Lincs ECB awards

Sleaford Cricket Club were among the trophies at the annual Lincolnshire ECB Premier League awards at Hemswell Court.

The team finished runners-up in the league and their ground earned them the Terry Bates Trophy, while there were individual awards for Tim McIntosh, Louis Kimber and Tom Shorthouse.

Sports journalist and broadcaster John Inverdale, who started his career in Lincolnshire and currently anchors the Six Nations rugby for the BBC, presented the awards before entertaining the cream of the county’s cricketers.

Inverdale spoke fondly of his time in the county and fielded a number of probing questions from a captive audience during an entertaining performance.

League champions Bracebridge Heath collected their trophy, while Bourne received the Winkworth Cup after their success in the T20 competition.

The Sibber Addison Umpire Trophy was shared between Steve Massingham and Gareth Dowson, both from Lincoln.

The Ann Boulton Services to Cricket Award Michael Marsh (Grantham); the Tony North Trophy for the most promising U19 newcomer Dan Freeman (Grantham); The most improved U19 award Louis Kimber (Sleaford); The Colin White Trophy for the Young Bowler of the Year Nic Keast (Louth).

Lincolnshire County Cricket Club also presented their trophies to Batsman of the Year Dan Freeman; Development Award Alex Willerton; and Achievement Matt Carter.

Winner of the bowling award was Alex Osmond, and winner of the fielder award, Carl Wilson.

The Lincolnshire Women’s Cricket League winners, Market Rasen Town, were also presented with their trophy.
