After being asked to bat first, Freiston made steady progress after the early loss of Sunil Panjwani.

Richard Paul made 13 and Usman Ahmed 20, as Freiston made it to 73-3 after 20 overs.

With Ilyas batting well, Freiston looked on course for a strong total.

However, Skegness openers Brant and Abbiss battled through the new ball in determined fashion.

Inevitably scoring became easier in the mid-part of the innings, as the Skegness openers reached a century opening stand.

Freiston kept battling hard, and Ryan Overton claimed the wicket of Abbiss, caught by Ahmed for 53.

Overton also had Redgard caught at slip next ball by Kumar.

However, any hopes of a dramatic Freiston fightback were quashed by a sensible partnership between Brackley (21*) and Brant, who took the home side to victory with four overs remaining.

Brant ended on an excellent unbeaten 70.

Freiston’s Seconds lost out to Skegness in a low scoring match.

Once again frailties with the bat left Freiston’s bowers with an uphill struggle.
