Dramatic tie for Retford outfit

Retford played their part in a dramatic tie with Notts and Arnold Amateur on Saturday, in the Bassetlaw Cricket League’s Championship division.

At the end of play at Cricket Field Lane, Retford and their visitors had both made 223 for 9.

In Retford’s innings Mark Bull made 77, supported by Eddie Tofts (50*) and Pascal Bradley (39).

Chris Bowers was Retford’s top bowler with 3 for 41.

Ordsall Bridon picked up 19 points from their three wicket win over Harthill.

Tim Miles and Darren Spooner took three wickets apiece as Harthill made 217 for 8.

In reply, Ordsall Bridon made 223 for 7, Miles again the star with 69 runs, Spooner adding 39 and Paul van den Heuvel 38.

North Wheatley with Leverton suffered a disappointing 102 run defeat at the hands of league leaders Glapwell.

On Saturday Retford face a local derby at Central Avenue, when they visit Worksop.

Ordsall Bridon are away at Clipstone Welfare, and North Wheatley with Leverton are at home to Anston.

In Division Two last weekend, Ordsall Bridon were seven-wicket victors over Mansfield Hosiery Mills II, as Luke Tong carried his bat after making 69 runs.

Retford II had a losing draw at Sheffield Road against Killamarsh II.

Gary Toward impressed with the ball for Retford, with 4 for 18, while C. Waterfield made 39 runs.
