Five batsmen step up to help Ordsall to title win

There were five significant batting contributions in Ordsall Bridon’s 171-run victory over Retford on Saturday, as they clinched the Championship title.

Tim Ward (35), David Fagan (31), Tim Miles (48), Darren Spooner (39) and James Brice (49) all helped their side to 279 for 8 in their overs.

Retford could only manage 108 in reply before being dismisse, Miles taking 3 for 32, and Matt Makings adding 5 for 27 as the Ordsall Bridon men booked a place in the Notts Premier next season.

North Wheatley with Leverton were beaten by 49 runs by Notts and Arnold Amateur, despite 65 runs from Richard Robinson.

Division One side Everton saw their match at Whitwell interrupted by rain, and they took 11 points from the encounter.

In Division Two, Ordsall Bridon II took 20 points with an 86-run win over Thoresby Colliery at Fourth Avenue.

One division below, Retford II beat Welbeck III by four wickets, thanks to a half century from Chris Hall, 37 from Thomas Waterfield and 43 from Kevin Pattenden.

Everton II, in Division Four, lost to Anston III by five wickets, despite 46 runs from Richard Lee.
