Goode century sees Heckington beat Sleaford Thirds, friendly defeat for Billingborough

A century from Jack Goode led Heckington Seconds to victory over Sleaford Thirds on Sunday.

Goode’s 108 was backed up by Callum Kopp (20), Adam Timingham (18), Robbie Townsend (16) and Aaron Machin (10) as they hosts finished their innings on 198-9 in this South Lincs and Border League Division Two contest.

Jake Henderson, Max Lorimer, Christopher Jackson and Ian Shorthouse each took two wickets apiece.

Heckington earned their 140-run victory after bowling Sleaford out for 58, Henderson (17), Daniel Hutson (15) and Ben Glendenning (11) the pick of the away side’s batsmen.

Townsend took five wickets for the loss of 17 runs and Goode capped off a fine day with three victims.

Freiston’s Second team began their season with victory over their counterparts from Billingborough.

Christy Turner top scored for Billingborough with an unbeaten 24.

In reply Freiston were in trouble early on, two wickets each for Alice Wesley and Mark Simpson saw Freiston reduced to 19-4.

However, they found their feet to claim the win.
