Lincoln Sunday League: Middle Rasen collapse as leaders march on

Middle Rasen hosted Lindum in the Lincoln Cricket Sunday League Premier Division last weekend and it was the visitors who came away with the victory.

Having won the toss, Lindum elected to bat first, but it was Middle Rasen who started on top as opening bowlers Daniel Norburn and Daniel Clark bowled tightly to keep the score down.

They also picked up a couple of early wickets, and approaching the drinks break, Middle Rasen had reduced Lindum to 86-3 at the halfway stage.

After drinks, however, Lindum took control. A mixture of sloppy fielding and good batting saw William Wright (50) and Will Taylor (69) both reach their half-centuries.

With 10 overs remaining Lindum were 173-5 and looking likely to post a huge score, but three late wickets from Tom Boryszczuk helped restrict the visitors to 212-8 from their 40 overs.

In response, Middle Rasen’s chase got off to a good start despite the loss of Will Bradford early on.

Boryszczuk and Ivan Nash kept the scoreboard ticking as Middle reached the drinks break at 119-4.

The home side looked to be cruising towards a win until Boryszczuk was finally out for a well-played 69 in the 31st over.

The lower order then collapsed and the final wicket went down with the score on 142.

The result leaves Middle Rasen in sixth place, while Lindum remain top of the table.
