Lincolnshire begin season in style with thumping 182-run win at Dunstable

Lincolnshire County Cricket Club launched their 2026 NCCA Trophy campaign in emphatic fashion on Sunday, overpowering Bedfordshire by 182 runs at Dunstable Town Cricket Club.

A sparkling century from new captain Nick Keast, supported by a series of composed middle order contributions, set the platform for a dominant all-round performance.

Having been inserted by Bedfordshire, Lincolnshire made full use of excellent early-season batting conditions.

Keast, opening the innings in his first match as county captain, produced a superbly paced 128, mixing crisp strokeplay with intelligent rotation of the strike.

His innings anchored the entire Lincolnshire effort and immediately signalled his intent to lead from the front this season.

Keast found valuable support throughout with contributions coming from Ben Wright (47), who added stability in a key partnership that consolidated the innings after the early overs.

James Laud (46) kept the momentum high with positive intent through the middle phase and Ben Jones (35) contributed vital late-innings runs to push Lincolnshire well beyond the 300 mark.

Despite Bedfordshire picking up wickets in the final overs, Lincolnshire closed on an imposing 345- from their 50 overs, a total that always looked formidable.

In reply, Bedfordshire never threatened to mount a serious chase.

Early breakthroughs put them immediately on the back foot, and Lincolnshire’s bowlers maintained relentless pressure throughout.

Wickets fell at regular intervals, preventing any meaningful partnerships from forming.

Bedfordshire were eventually dismissed for 163 in 36.1 overs, sealing a commanding victory for the visitors and ensuring they collected maximum points from their opening fixture.

A 182-run margin is as strong an opening statement as Lincolnshire could have hoped for.

Keast’s century will rightly take the headlines, but the collective performance—disciplined bowling, sharp fielding, and a deep batting effort—suggests a side well-balanced and full of confidence.

Lincolnshire will now look to build on this momentum as they continue their NCCA Trophy campaign.
