In addition to the pre-season wicket maintenance, the winners of the 2016 Lincolnshire ECB Premiership Ground Trophy, have invested in an electronic scoreboard and have also installed a defibrillator for community use at the pavilion.

Head groundsman John Luffman said: “The new scoreboard will help to bring the club facilities into the 21st century, and provide some of the best cricket amenities in Lincolnshire, and the defibrillator will provide a much-needed bonus at the busy Jubilee Park.”

The improvements, however, do come at a cost, and the club are holding an auction dinner to raise funds for further ground modernisation.

Local auctioneer and club member Martin Wright will conduct the auction of donated lots ranging from locally-produced eggs and ice cream, a Lancaster taxi run on Just Jane at East Kirkby Aviation Centre and a flight simulator experience at RAF Coningsby to holiday apartments in Norfolk and Sri Lanka.

Martin is really excited about this year’s auction dinner.

He said: “Our club has very generous members and supporters, who have in previous auctions raised over £7,000 at the last auction held in 2015.

“We have over 30 fantastic lots and the club is hoping for another successful auction again this year.

“Absolutely all of the funds raised at the auction will go the club to improvement facilities, for both the community as well as the playing members.

“It would be great if members of the community could place bids for lots, even if they cannot attend the auction dinner.”

The lots can be viewed at www.woodhallspacricketclub.cu.uk.

Those who are unable to get to the auction at The Dower House this Friday (7pm), can place silent bids by contacting Martin before the sale on 01205 351 200 -or via [email protected]
