North Wheatley take lion’s share at Ordsall Bridon

It was another good weekend for local clubs in the Bassetlaw and District Cricket League.

North Wheatley with Leverton kept up their solid start in the Championship, with a winning draw at Ordsall Bridon.

Wheatley batted first and fine knocks by Dwight Thomas (76) and Will Shaw (63) saw them amass 269 for the loss of seven wickets.

But, despite David Wilcox returning figures of 5 for 42, they could not quite prise the last pair out and the hosts finished on 188 for 9.

In Division One Everton had a good win away to Edwinstowe, restricting the hosts to 201 for 7 (Dan Leach 4 for 33) before passing that total for the loss of just four wickets, Jon Mimms scoring a fine 83.

But it was not so good for Wiseton who travelled to Blidworth and could not stop the hosts plundering 259 for 8 off their bowling and then, despite defiant knocks of 65 from Michael White and 51 from Matt Loates, they were bowled out for 169.

In Division Three a close match at Killamarsh II saw Lea Park agonisingly lose by just one wicket.

Batting first, they scored 138 for 9 (Chris Needham 41) but the hosts just managed to reach their target despite Andrew Dewick taking 5 for 44.

The local derby in Division Four at Middlefield Lane between Marshalls and Rose Leisure saw the home side take the honours with a winning draw.

Batting first, Marshalls scored 187 for 3 with Mark Whitlam hitting 77 and then restricted Roses to 132 for 6 as Abhishek Rampal took four wickets for 19 runs.

North Wheatley with Leverton II gave an impressive performance at home to Clumber Park II, keeping the visitors down to 198 for 6 before passing that score for the loss of four wickets, thanks mainly to Nick Cleaver and Dave Waller who scored 64 and 46, respectively.

Everton II were well beaten at home to Basford Mill when the visitors knocked up 209 for 8 and then dismissed the hosts for just 67.

In Division Five Misterton kept up the winning habit with a 45-run victory over visitors Milton II.

A fine 61 from Dave Lawson helped the home side to 178 for 9 and then Lawson starred with the ball as he took 4 for 33 and Darren Emmingham 3 for 14 to bowl Milton out for 133.

Wiseton II are still struggling in Division Six, this time losing at home to South Normanton by 151 runs.

The hosts posted 223 for 8 and then bowled Wiseton out for 72.
