Sleaford Cricket Club academy beaten at Cherry Willingham

The vagaries of both the weather and the fixture list meant Sleaford Cricket Club played only one fixture at the weekend when the Academy team went down to a 44-run defeat at Cherry Willingham in Lincoln League Division Three.

Fielding first after losing the toss, Sleaford Academy, sponsored by Turnbulls, saw their hosts total 160-5 from the allotted 40 overs, with Ben Hutson and Kurt Colyn sharing the wickets.

In reply, Sleaford never really threatened the required total, despite an undefeated 41 from Harbron, and eventually succumbed to a convincing defeat.

On Saturday, Sleaford First XI, sponsored by Baker Plant Hire, entertain Grantham in the Lincs ECB Premier League, while in the South Lincs and Border League Premier, Sleaford travel to Woodhall Spa.

Sleaford’s Sunday XI travel to Revesby in the Lincoln Sunday League Premier Division, while the Academy team host Woodhall.

Matches start at noon and 1.30pm respectively and spectators are welcome.

* Sleaford CC will host the finals of the 2017 Winkworth Cup, the Lincolnshire ECB Premier League’s T20 competition, on Bank Holiday Monday.

Grantham play Bourne at 10.30am and Alford meet Woodhall Spa at 1.30pm, with the two winners playing in the final at 4.30pm.

The bar will be open and refreshments will be available or spectators. There is ample parking and seating around the ground

The winners will qualify for the ECB area finals on July 30 against cup winners from Notts, Derbyshire and Yorkshire.
