SOUTH LINCS AND BORDER LEAGUE: Round-up

With the rain clearing to the north and hard work to make the pitches fit, two reduced over games were possible in the South Lincolnshire & Border League - the Premier Division local derby between Bourne 2nd and Market Deeping 2nd and, in Division One, Baston's game against Heckington.

Deeping invited Bourne to bat at Abbey Lawn and Ross Lowndes ripped through the top order, taking five wickets for 19 runs off six overs.

Bourne never recovered from this early onslaught and the final wicket fell on 76.

John McDougall and Richard Witt opened for Deeping and both were unbeaten as their side claimed a 10 wicket win, Witt hitting 50.

Next weekend will see a top of the table clash as this win takes Market Deeping to the top of the table, one point ahead of Saturday’s opponents Spalding.

It was a closer game at Baston where skipper Damon Tunnicliffe hit 40 of his side’s total of 105 and Liam Davies took four wickets for Baston.

Sam Elliott then took a wicket on one and another with 15 on the board and Baston lost six more wickets before the winning run came in the 35th over.

Results:

Premier Division - Bourne 2nd 76 (Lowndes 5-19), Market Deeping 2nd (Witt 50no).

Division One - Heckington 105, Baston 107-8.
