A second 50 of the season from Waseem Ilyas wasn’t enough for Freiston, Leake and Leverton as they were defeated at Long Sutton.

Richard Paul (21) and Ilyas gave Freiston a solid platform with a 65-run partnership for the second wicket.

However, Freiston were never really able to add the required momentum into their innings, as they were restricted by some accurate bowling from the hosts.

Ilyas made 51, and Sunil Panjwani 18 but Freiston lost regular wickets in the second half of the innings.

Abdul Moeed scored 34 as Freiston were bowled out off the final delivery for 169.

Freiston were never able to build pressure with the ball. Usman Ahmed had opener Sangha caught behind by Zeehsan Saeed and Ashok Kumar trapped Wright LBW for nine.

Long Sutton were always just ahead of the required rate. A 50-run partnership between skipper Oldfield and Bell took the home side into a strong position.

Freiston struck twice in two overs as Zakir Gatta had Bell well caught by Moeed for 22, and Stewart Kirtley clean bowled Harrison, to give themselves a chance.

Oldfield, who had passed fifty by this point, was joined by Booth and the pair kept the scoreboard ticking over.

Freiston were unable to break the partnership and fittingly it was Oldfield who struck the winning runs for his side to end unbeaten on an excellent 94, as Long Sutton reached their target with three overs in hand.

Freiston’s second team's match against their counterparts from Long Sutton was abandoned due to persistent drizzle with Freiston in a strong position.

Freiston had done well to bowl out Long Sutton for 81. Steve Appleyard led the way for Freiston taking four wickets.

All of the bowling attack played their part with Bonakeli Njovana, Tom Appleyard and Mat Dean all picking up wickets.

Freiston were also good in the field, led by keeper Tim Laverton who held three sharp chances behind the stumps. Guy Elsom took a good catch on the boundary and Tom Appleyard finished the Long Sutton innings with a fine throw for a run out.

Freiston had started watchfully with the bat, as openers Hebert Ushewokunze and Mick Stapleton took the score to 14, when the rain struck.
