Wiseton cruise to victory away from home

Bassetlaw Cricket League Championship side North Wheatley with Leverton slumped to another defeat when they visited Worksop on Saturday.

They struggled to 174 for 9 in with Dwight Thomas top-scoring on 65, but the hosts comfortably passed that score with five wickets to spare.

In Division One Wiseton cruised to a very impressive victory at Papplewick and Linby.

They scored 277 for 9 thanks mainly to a fine century from James Moss, well supported by Nick White (45) and Steve Marshall (44), and they then bowled their hosts out for 144 with Matt Loates taking 4 for 36 and Jason Newstead 3 for 6.

But it was not so good news for Everton as they went down by four wickets at Killamarsh.

The visitors were thankful to Gareth Campion who scored 59 out of a modest team total of just 119, and then, despite a fine bowling performance from Matt Hewson who took 5 for 32, they could not stop Killamarsh from claiming the victory.

In Division Three Lea Park strode to a 10-wicket win at Wadworth.

Andrew Orton (5 for 10) and David Law (3 for 6) tore through the Wadworth batting to bowl them out for just 63 and then an unbeaten 42 from Chris Needham saw Lea Park ease home.

It was a pretty good day for local teams in Division Four with three claiming wins.

Marshalls beat Worksop II at Middlefield Lane, James Favill scoring a vital 36.

Rose Leisure visited Basford Mill, who were bowled out for just 94, thanks to good bowling performances from Mick Newton (4 for 11) and Graham Clay (4 for 19), but the Roses batsmen struggled to pass that total and managed it with two wickets to spare.

It was a bit easier for North Wheatley with Leverton II when they hosted Blidworth II.

They restricted the visitors to 146 for 9 and then solid batting from Dave Waller (56) and Nick Purkiss (45) saw Wheatley home by five wickets.

The only losers in this division were Everton II who went down by 39 when they entertained Woodsetts.

The visitors scored 194 for 6 and, despite an unbeaten half-century from Robert Hunter-Shaw, Everton were bowled out for 155.

In Division Five the Misterton bandwagon rolled on as they recorded another victory, this time at home to Todwick.

The visitors were bowled out for 143 with Darren Emmingham taking 4 for 32 and Matt Boscolo 3 for 38 and then reached their target with five wickets to spare with Emmingham also starring with the bat as he scored a solid 62.

In Division Six Wiseton II slumped to another defeat when they entertained Teversal II at Wiseton Hall.

They scored 130 with Daniel Stockdale contributing 34 but could not stop the visitors easing past that total with eight wickets to spare.
