Woodhall Spa claim victory at Boston CC as Lincs ECB Premier campaign gets underway

Rain played its part as Boston CC were beaten by Woodhall Spa as Lincs ECB Premier action got underway at the weekend.

This 40-over inter game saw the Spa men win the toss and elect to bat.

Jack Timby scored 73 for the visitors at the Mayflower before he was caught by Tim Bell off the bowling of Andrew Hewitt.

Alex King (28) and Alfie Lindsey (14) added to the total as Woodhall ended their inning on 151-9.

Scott Elleray was the pick of the Boston bowlers, taking four wickets for the loss of 18 runs.

As the rain fell, the mayflower men were given a revised target of 82 from 15 overs, but they fell short with a score of 64-3.

New captain Jonathan Cheer (33), Tom Poole (16) and Tom Baxter (10) added to the total.

King took two wickets and Timby the other.

Boston host Market Deeping on Saturday while Woodhall travel to Sleaford (both noon).

Spa's Sunday XI begin their campaign this weekend, away at Lindum (1.30pm).
