CYCLING: Sleaford Wheelers 10 sees monster entry but no course record

Sleaford Wheelers Charity 10 winner Mark Arnold and event secretary Doug Laidlow.

But a 25mph head wind from Quarrington to the half way point at Osbournby roundabout put paid to the course record of 20min 18sec being beaten in spite of a number of riders having 19-minute PBs to their names.

An indication of what to expect came with the arrival at the finish of Neil Palmer (Velo-One Cycling Team). in 22.51 for an eventual third place.

Mark Arnold (CC Desiragear) from Newmarket covered the return leg in 8.39, spinning his fixed wheel machine to a winning time of 22.14.

Fastest of 18 ladies was Evedon’s Sarah King (Port Sunlight Wheeelers) in 25.13, whilst quickest junior and juvenile were Witham Wheelers Adam Egner and Robert McMcAndrew in 24.49 and 26.29 respectively.

Times of Sleaford Wheelers riders were: 8th Jim Boyle 23.14, 11th Richard Hamblin 23.24, 28th Richard Yates 24.36, Jack Parsons 36.21, Richard Horton 26.42, Andy Cole 27.28, Rod Weston 28.00, Stuart McKellar 28.25, Chris Close 29.17, Thomas Trimble (2nd jun) 29.42, Seth Parrott (3rd juv) 32.07, Christine Yates 39.53.

Tri3 Sleaford Triathlon Club times were: Simon Jackson 28.48, Tim Crosby 30.48.

A sum of £1,125 was presented to Sue Watson Ambassidor for Cancer Research UK and when the sums are done there will be more to follow.
